The motor principle is basically the FORCE that a current carrying wire experiences when interacting with an EXTERNAL MAGNETIC FIELD. Oersted's principle says that a wire carrying electricity has a magnetic field around it - so if there is another external field near it then the wire will experience either a repulsive force or attractive force (the interaction of the two magnetic fields).
